10.11.08 ED The Panel discussed the Administration's paper entitled "Baptist University Road Campus Development by Hong Kong Baptist University". [Paper]

At members' request, the Administration provided supplementary paper dated 5 December 2008 on -

  1. the original and latest estimates of the 12 capital works projects for the UGC-funded institutions to implement the new academic structure, the reasons for any increases in the estimated costs and the parties concerned for shouldering the additional costs; and

  2. the land sites identified for the construction of additional facilities and buildings required for the UGC-funded institutions in support of the new academic structure. [Follow-up paper]

15.12.08 PWSCPWSC endorsed a commitment to construct the Baptist University Road campus development by Hong Kong Baptist University at an estimated cost of $945.1 million in MOD prices. [Paper]

PWSC endorsed a commitment to construct a student amenity centre by The Chinese University of Hong Kong within its campus in Sha Tin at an estimated cost of $206.5 million in MOD prices. 11.2.09 PWSCPWSC endorsed the following commitments to -

  1. construct the phase 8 development by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University at an estimated cost of $1,337.4 million in MOD prices; [Paper]

  2. construct the Centennial Campus phase 1 and 2 by The University of Hong Kong at Pokfulam Road adjacent to its existing campus at an estimated cost of $2037.2 million in MOD prices; [Paper]

  3. construct a new academic building by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology within its campus in Clear Water Bay at an estimated cost of $668.5 million in MOD prices; [Paper] and

  4. construct the Institute for Advanced Study by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology within its campus in Clear Water Bay at an estimated cost of $187.2 million in MOD prices. [Paper]

9.3.09 ED The Panel discussed the Administration's papers entitled -

"Centralized general research laboratory complex (block 1) in Area 39 by The Chinese University of Hong Kong"; [Paper]

"Two integrated teaching buildings by The Chinese University of Hong Kong"; [Paper] and

"701-place student residences by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology". [Paper]

The Panel also noted two background briefs prepared by Legislative Council Secretariat on -

"Provision of hostels for tertiary students"; [Paper] and

"Capital works projects for the implementation of four-year undergraduate programmes in the University Grants Committee-funded institutions". [Paper]

At members' request, the Administration provided supplementary paper on the three capital works projects proposed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. [Follow-up paper]

8.4.09 PWSCPWSC endorsed the following commitments to -

  1. construct a centralized general research laboratory complex by The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Area 39, Pak Shek Kok, Tai Po at an estimated cost of $455.8 million in MOD prices; [Paper]

  2. construct two integrated teaching buildings by The Chinese University of Hong Kong within its campus in Sha Tin at an estimated cost of $741.8 million in MOD prices; [Paper]

  3. construct the academic and administration building by the City University of Hong Kong within its campus in Kowloon Tong at an estimated cost of $888.5 million in MOD prices; [Paper] and

  4. construct a composite building of academic block and student hostel in Tuen Mun by Lingnan University at an estimated cost of $216.0 million in MOD prices. [Paper]

24.4.09 FCFC approved the commitments endorsed by PWSC on 11 February and 8 April 2009. [Paper]
7.5.09 PWSCPWSC endorsed the following commitments to -

  1. construct 701-place student residences by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology within its campus in Clear Water Bay at an estimated cost of $201.3 million in MOD prices; [Paper] and
