It presents an overview of the health care policy in each place, details of the health care policy and its implementation relating to immigrants. 8 November 2003 RP02/03-04 Budgetary Arrangements for Overseas Judiciaries The research studies the budgetary arrangements for the judiciaries of the United Kingdom, the United States and Ontario of Canada. The selected judiciaries are examined in terms of (a) source of funding; (b) preparation of budget; (c) approval of budget; (d) allocation of voted resources and court administration; (e) pay adjustment of judges; and (f) public accountability. 20 November 2003 RP03/03-04 Monitoring Mechanisms for the Implementation of International Human Rights Treaties in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada The research studies the monitoring mechanisms for the implementation of international human rights treaties in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Canada. It covers (a) relevant international and domestic human rights legislation; (b) monitoring mechanisms of parliamentary and judicial institutions, and non-governmental organizations; and (c) monitoring mechanisms of specialized institutions, such as an independent human rights commission. 24 February 2004 RP04/03-04 Operation of Electoral Regulatory Bodies in Selected Places This research studies the operation of the statutory bodies established by the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand; and the State of New Jersey of the United States for regulating their respective election activities. The electoral regulatory bodies are examined in terms of (a) statutory status, functions and power; (b) chairmanship and membership; (c) staffing arrangement and funding arrangement; (d) mechanisms for conducting public consultation on electoral affairs; (e) types of activities supervised; and (f) mechanisms for monitoring the performance of the regulatory bodies. 15 April 2004 RP05/03-04 The Regulatory Framework of Political Parties in Germany, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Singapore This research studies the regulatory framework of political parties in Germany, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Singapore, with special reference to (a) modes of regulatory framework; (b) registration requirements; (c) proscription of political parties; (d) rules for party and campaign financing; (e) regulation of selection of candidates for election; (f) rules on party operations; and (g )other related rules such as broadcasting rules and anti-defection rules. 15 April 2004 RP06/03-04 The Operation of Labour Tribunals and Other Mechanisms for Resolving Labour Disputes in Hong Kong and Selected Places This research studies the labour dispute resolution mechanisms in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Taiwan and New Zealand. It examines the procedures for handling labour disputes, the efficiency and effectiveness of the dispute resolving mechanism, as well as the enforcement of awards and orders. 22 April 2004 RP07/03-04 The Economic and Social Impacts of Hosting Selected International Games This research studies the possible economic and social impacts of hosting international games based on the experience of former hosted cities, thereby serving as reference for Hong Kong to host the 2009 East Asian Games. The international games studied comprise the 1997 and 2001 East Asian Games, the 1998 and 2002 Asian Games, the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the 2002 Commonwealth Games. 5 July 2004
