Issue No. 11 (19 December 2002)



At its meeting on 18 December 2002, the Legislative Council passed the following two bills:

(1)Landlord and Tenant (Consolidation) (Amendment) Bill 2001, with amendments proposed by the Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands at Committee Stage.

(2)Electoral Provisions (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2002, with amendments proposed by the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs at Committee Stage.


At the same meeting, the Council passed the following six resolutions:

(1)Resolution moved by the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology relating to the Patents (General) (Amendment) (No. 2) Rules 2002.

(2)Resolution moved by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food relating to the Pharmacy and Poisons (Amendment) (No. 5) Regulation 2002 and the Poisons List (Amendment) (No. 5) Regulation 2002.

(3)Resolution moved by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food relating to the Chinese Medicines Regulation.

(4)Resolution moved by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food relating to the Chinese Medicines Traders (Regulatory) Regulation.

(5)Resolution moved by the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs relating to the Karaoke Establishments (Licensing) Regulation.

(6)Resolution moved by Hon Mrs Selina CHOW LIANG Shuk-yee relating to the extension of the period for amending subsidiary legislation.


The following motion with no legislative effect was also passed by the Council:
    Motion on "Culture and Heritage Commission Consultation Paper 2002", moved by Hon MA Fung-kwok

    "That this Council notes the Culture and Heritage Commission Consultation Paper 2002."
