Convergence

In the light of the rapidly changing technological landscape and the new business models brought about by convergence, the Government has proposed to review the policies and regulatory framework facilitating the development of the broadcasting and telecommunications sectors in the "2004 Digital 21 Strategy" promulgated in March 2004. In this connection, the Government will assess whether the current regulatory structure for the two sectors will adequately serve Hong Kong in the era of convergence and deregulation. The Government will announce the intended way forward and consult the public on details of the proposal and the Authority will contribute positively to the Government's proposal.
