(This item invites Members to approve -

For Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (Head 22 Subhead 700)

(a)the creation of a new commitment of $920.8 million for making ex-gratia payments to pig farmers who voluntarily surrender their Livestock Keeping Licences and cease rearing pigs permanently;

(b)the creation of a new commitment of $14.4 million for providing a one-off grant to assist the affected local workers of the live pig farming/ transport industry; and

For Primary Products (Head 262)

(c)the creation of a new subhead "Loans to live pig transporters" under the Loan Fund with a commitment of $6.5 million for making loans on an unsecured basis to affected live pig transporters who cease operation of delivery of local live pigs permanently and upgrade/convert their vehicles for other business operations.)
