LegCo Panel on Health Services observes operation of Electronic Health Record Sharing System (with photos)




At the invitation of the Administration, the Legislative Council ("LegCo") Panel on Health Services conducted a visit to the Caritas Harold Lee Care and Attention Home ("Caritas HL Home") today (21 February) to better understand the use of the Electronic Health Record Sharing System ("eHRSS").

 

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health), Mr Patrick NIP, Members were briefed on the operation of eHRSS by representatives of the Administration.  They also observed demonstrations on registration for eHRSS and viewing of the electronic health record.  During the visit, patient and carer representatives of the Caritas HL Home, private medical practitioner and representatives of other patient groups also shared their experiences in using eHRSS.

 

Meanwhile, Members took the opportunity to visit the Caritas HL Home to learn more about its facilities and services.

 

The Panel on Health Services has discussed issues relating to the development of the stage two Electronic Health Record Programme at its meeting on 16 January 2017.  The agenda and discussion papers of the meeting can be found at the following website: http://www.legco.gov.hk/yr16-17/english/panels/hs/agenda/hs20170116.htm.
 

Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Prof Hon Joseph LEE Kok-long, the Deputy Chairman of the Panel, Dr Hon Pierre CHAN, as well as Panel members Hon Paul TSE Wai-chun, Hon Charles Peter MOK, Dr Hon Elizabeth QUAT and Hon YUNG Hoi-yan.
