At the Enclosure is a summary of the recommendations of the Public Works Subcommittee (PWSC) made at its meeting on 19 February 1997. The relevant papers have previously been forwarded to all Members for consideration by the PWSC and are therefore not enclosed.

55HH PWSC(96-97)99 (Head 707)	Local public works in the rural New Territories	To recommend to Finance Committee - (a) the upgrading of part of 55HH as 57HH, entitled "Local public works in the rural New Territories: 1997-98 Programme", to Category A at an estimated cost of $28.7 million in money-of-the-day prices; and (b) the retention of the remainder of 55HH in Category B.
18HH PWSC(96-97)100 (Head 707) 446TH PWSC(96-97)100 (Head 707)	Village improvements and development schemes in the New Territories Improvement, reconstruction and extension of village access roads in the New Territories	To recommend to Finance Committee - (a) the upgrading of part of 18HH as 58HH, entitled "Village improvements and development schemes in the New Territories: 1997-98 Programme", to Category A at an estimated cost of $90 million in money-of-the-day prices; (b) the upgrading of part of 446TH as 624TH, entitled "Improvement, reconstruction and extension of village access roads in the New Territories: 1997-98 Programme", to Category A at an estimated cost of $120.7 million in money-of-the-day prices; and (c) the retention of the remainders of 18HH and 446TH in Category B.
200WF PWSC(96-97)101 (Head 707)	Tsing Yi development - water supply, stage IV	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 200WF to Category A at an estimated cost of $131.1 million in money-of-the-day prices.
31CD PWSC(96-97)102 (Head 704)	Shenzhen River improvement works, stage II - remaining works	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 31CD, retitled "Regulation of Shenzhen River stage II phase II - improvement to river sections between Liu Pok and Lok Ma Chau and from Lok Ma Chau to estuary", to Category A at an estimated cost of $526 million in money-of-the-day prices.
694TH PWSC(96-97)103 (Head 706)	Route 16 from West Kowloon to Sha Tin	To recommend to Finance Committee - (a) to upgrade part of 694TH as 699TH, entitled "Route 16 from West Kowloon to Sha Tin - investigation" to Category A, at an estimated cost of $15.5 million in money-of-the-day prices; and (b) to retain the remainder of 694TH in Category B.
87DR PWSC(96-97)104 (Head 705)	Bulk waste reduction - consultants' fees and investigation, phase II	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 87DR, retitled "Waste reduction study phase II - feasibility study on building waste-to-energy incinerators", to Category A at an estimated cost of $34.5 million in money-of-the-day prices for undertaking a feasibility study on waste-to-energy incineration.
