Hong Kong Society of Medical Informatics Ltd: about 300 members; most are IT professionals engaged in program design and management of medical information systems.

Hong Kong Telemedicine Association : about 30 members; most are engaged in applied research and development of telemedince systems.

IT Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers : a few hundred members; mostly engaged in the disciplines of electronics, computer aided information and software.

The Hong Kong Association for Computer Education Ltd, Hong Kong Society of Medical Informatics Ltd, Hong Kong Telemedicine Association and IT Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers should be included as electors for the Information Technology functional constituency to enable IT professionals to vote in their own constituency.

Hong Kong Institition of Engineers (HKIE) A multi-disciplinary institution of 50-year history; only professional body in Hong Kong accrediting related degree courses at universities.

HKIE IT professionals belonging to Group 3 (Information) should be included as electors for the Information Technology functional constituency.

Hong Kong Theatres Association Ltd Has about 96 members; all cinemas and theatres.

The association should be included as an elector for the Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication functional constituency and not the Wholesale and Retail functional constituency as most members are closely related to the former functional constituency.

Hong Kong Video Industry Association Ltd Has about 90 members; all engaged in video product business. The association should be included as an elector for the Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication functional constituency and not the Wholesale and Retail functional constituency as most members of the Association are also engaged in the production of movies and television programmes.

Hong Kong Book & Stationery Industry Association Ltd. Established in 1920 and has about 500 members; about 250 being corporate members of whom 70 % are in the book publishing business. The Association and the Hong Kong Publishing Professionals Society should be included as electors under paragraph 24(6) in Schedule 1 of the Bill; the two organizations are members of the Hong Kong Publishing Federation Ltd which has a total of 7 members. The other five are already listed in paragraph 24(7).

G.M.B. Maxicab Operators General Association Ltd. A statutory body representing 90% of green minibus operators; members: 48 companies covering about 300 routes. Green minibus operators should be given more votes in the Transport functional constituency. The number of red and green minibuses are more or less the same but red bus operators have 12 votes while green bus operators have 3 votes only.

Joint Meeting of the Hong Kong Higher Education Staff Association 10 tertiary institutions with about 7,000 staff engaged in teaching or research and administration. Higher Education should be included as one of the 28 functional constituencies which will return 30 Legislative Council Members and not be grouped under the Education functional constituency. The quota of 20 electors in respect of the Election Committee should be allocated on the basis of the number of staff in each institution to ensure fair representation.

Hong Kong Shipping Circles Association Limited, Hong Kong Ship Owners Association and Hong Kong Liner Shipping Association Ltd Membership comprises mostly of the main carriers moving containers in/out of Hong Kong. The distribution of the number of electors between land and sea transport in respect of the Transport functional constituency should be proportional (the existing distribution is 110 for land transport and 44 for sea transport), and more representative members should be included as electors.

Hong Kong Cultural Sector Joint Conference "One person, one vote" should be adopted for the Sport, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication functional constituency election to ensure fair representation. The list of electors should include district cultural organzations and other organizations which receive/have received grants from the Urban Council, Regional Council and Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Kowloon Federation of Associations The Federation represents 38 separate district organizations. The "social Welfare" subsector under the Third Sector in respect of the Election Committee election should be renamed as 'social Services' subsector to be consistent with the Preparatory Committee's decision on 23 May 1997.

The proposed 'social Services' subsector should be allocated 60 votes. The Federation and other registered local/district organizations such as kaifong associations, clansman associations, etc. should be included as electors.

*Textile Council of Hong Kong Limited The Council comprises 10 textile-related bodies as Full Members and 13 Associate Members; their respective Registered Representatives are entitled to vote at general meetings.

*Kwun Tong Resident Union The Union should be included as an elector in Sector 3 of the Election Committee; and consideration should be given to including similar societies in Sector 3 as such societies are mostly made up of "grassroots".
