RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUBCOMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME AND CAPITAL SUBVENTION PROJECTS

At the Enclosure is a summary of the recommendations of the Public Works Subcommittee (PWSC) made at its meeting on 10 December 1997. The relevant papers have previously been forwarded to all Members for consideration by the PWSC and are therefore not enclosed.

To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 196EP to Category A at an estimated cost of $81.3 million in money-of-the-day prices for the construction of a primary school in area 105, Tin Shui Wai.

Expansion of kiosks and other facilities at Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing


To recommend to Finance Committee -

(a) the upgrading of part of 6GB as 7GB, entitled "Expansion of kiosks and other facilities at Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing - pre-contract consultancy and design" to Category A at an estimated cost of $104.1 million in money-of-the-day prices; and

(b) the retention of the remainder of 6GB retitled "Expansion of kiosks and other facilities at Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing - works" in Category B.

Extension of Shau Kei Wan high level water supply systems


To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 120WC to Category A at an estimated cost of $219.3 million in money-of-the-day prices for the construction of a fresh water service reservoir, a salt water service reservoir, associated water mains and upgrading of an existing pumping station in Shau Kei Wan.

To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 121WC to Category A at an estimated cost of $268.2 million in money-of-the-day prices for the construction of a fresh water service reservoir, a salt water service reservoir and associated watermains in Ma On Shan.

To recommend to Finance Committee an increase in the approved project estimate of 117GK from $249.7 million by $39.8 million to $289.5 million in money-of-the-day prices.

(b) the retention of the remainder of 45DR in Category B, retitled "Restoration of Pillar Point Valley landfill".
