RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUBCOMMITTE
ON PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME AND CAPITAL SUBVENTION PROJECTS

At Enclosures 1 and 2 are the summaries of the recommendations of the Public Works Subcommittee (PWSC) made at its meeting on 20 January 1999. Enclosure 1 is the summary of PWSC's recommendations for six items considered on 20 January 1999. Enclosure 2 is the summary of PWSC's recommendation on 89ET - Special school in Yau Tong which some PWSC members have requested for a separate voting. The relevant papers considered by the PWSC have previously been forwarded to all Members and are therefore not enclosed.

2. Members are invited to approve the PWSC recommendations.

259EP PWSC(98-99)57 (Head 703)	Primary school in area 31, Tung Chung	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 259EP to Category A at an estimated cost of $119.9 million in money-of-the-day prices for the construction of a 30-classroom primary school in area 31, Tung Chung.

234LP PWSC(98-99)59 (Head 703)	Redevelopment of Police Headquarters, Arsenal Street, Wanchai (Arsenal Yard Phase 3 development) (Arsenal Yard Phase 3 development)	To recommend to Finance Committee -(a) the upgrading of part of 234LP as 236LP, entitled "Redevelopment of Police Headquarters, Arsenal Street, Wanchai (Arsenal Yard Phase 3 development) - stage 1" to Category A at an estimated cost of$45.1 million in money-of-the-day prices; and(b) the retention of the remainder of 234LP in Category B, retitled "Redevelopment of Police Headquarters, Arsenal Street, Wanchai, (Arsenal Yard Phase 3 development) - stage 2"./B567CL .....

B567CL PWSC(98-99)60 (Head 711)	Site formation for redevelopment of Hung Hom Estate phase 2	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of B567CL, entitled "Site formation for redevelopment of Hung Hom Estate phase 2", to Category A at an estimated cost of $38.6 million in money-of-the-day prices.

6GB PWSC(98-99)61 (Head 703)	Expansion of kiosks and other facilities at Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing	To recommend to Finance Committee - the upgrading of part of 6GB as 8GB, entitled "Expansion of kiosks and other facilities at Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing - phase 1 works" to Category A at an estimated cost of $292.5 million in money-of-the-day prices; and the retention of the remainder of 6GB, retitled "Expansion of kiosks and other facilities at Lok Ma Chau boundary crossing - remaining works" in Category B.

227WF PWSC(98-99)62 (Head 709)	Mainlaying between Au Tau treatment works and Yuen Long Town - remaining works	To recommend to Finance Committee - the upgrading of part of 227WF as 242WF, entitled "Mainlaying between Au Tau treatment works and Yuen Long Town - advance mainlaying work along Kam Tin Road" to Category A at an estimated cost of $17.68 million in money-of-the-day prices; and the retention of the remainder of 227WF in Category B.
