ON PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME AND SUBVENTION PROJECTS

At the Enclosure is a summary of the recommendations of the Public Works Subcommittee (PWSC) made at its meeting on 4 September 1998. The relevant papers have previously been forwarded to all Members for consideration by the PWSC and are therefore not enclosed.

126TB PWSC(98-99)1 (Head 706)	Pedestrian subway at junction of Austin Road/Canton Road	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 126TB to Category A at an estimated cost of $90.2 million in money-of-the-day prices for constructing a pedestrian subway at the junction of Austin Road/Canton Road.
405CL PWSC(98-99)3 (Head 705)	Pak Shek Kok reclamation for dumping, stage 3	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 405CL, retitled "Pak Shek Kok reclamation for public filling, stage 3", to Category A at an estimated cost of $240.8 million in money-of-the-day prices.
437CL PWSC(98-99)4 (Head 707)	Roadworks in Aldrich Bay reclamation area	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 437CL to Category A at an estimated cost of $283.1 million in money-of-the-day prices for the provision of roads, drains and essential infrastructure in the Aldrich Bay reclamation area.
643TH PWSC(98-99)6 (Head 711)	Trunk Road T7 in Ma On Shan	To recommend to Finance Committee - (a) the upgrading of part of 643TH, as B648TH entitled "Trunk Road T7 in Ma On Shan - detailed design and site investigations", to Category A at an estimated cost of $66.7 million in money-of-the-day prices; and (b) the retention of the remainder of 643TH in Category B.
580TH PWSC(98-99)8 (Head 706)	Tsing Yi North Coastal Road	To recommend to Finance Committee the upgrading of 580TH to Category A for the construction of the Tsing Yi North Coastal Road at an estimated cost of $1,604.4 million in money-of-the-day prices.
13EJ PWSC(98-99)9 (Head 708)	Student hostel, phase 1 (806 places) City University of Hong Kong	To recommend to Finance Committee to approve a new commitment of $271.02 million in money-of-the-day prices for the construction of phase 1 of the student hostel project of the City University of Hong Kong.
