Pilotage Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 2) Notice 1999 (L.N. 162)


L.N. 160 imposes an additional pilotage due payable for any pilotage service performed where a pilot is required to board a ship or disembark from a ship at the west of Lamma Island. L.N. 162 relocates the pilot boarding station from the area off Green Island to the area off Ha Mei Wan, west of Lamma Island.

The two Orders are made as a result of establishing a pilot boarding station to the west of Lamma Island. Members may refer to LegCo Brief File Ref. ECON 7619/45(99)XI issued by the Economic Services Bureau on 22 June 1999 for background information.

Pilotage Ordinance (Cap. 84)
*Pilotage (Dues) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1999 (L.N. 161)


This Order amends the Pilotage (Dues) Order (Cap. 84 sub. leg.) by reducing the standard pilotage dues for vessels of 30,000 tons of gross registered tonnage or above by 0.25 cents per ton in the tonnage charge (subject to a minimum charge of $1,950 instead of $3,500) and reducing certain additional pilotage dues from $2,100 to $1,900.

The two types of pilotage dues were last revised in February 1998 and January 1997 respectively. Members may refer to LegCo Brief File Ref. ECON 7619/45(99)XI issued by the Economic Services Bureau on 23 June 1999 for details.

Marine Fish (Marketing) By-laws (Cap. 291 sub. leg.)
+ Marine Fish (Marketing) (Rate of Commission) Notice (L.N. 163)


The purpose of this Notice is to prescribe a lower rate of commission payable to the Fish Marketing Organisation for services provided in respect of sales of marine fish at a market by way of direct sale. The rate of commission previously prescribed by the Marine Fish (Marketing) (Rate of Commission) Notice (Cap. 291 sub. leg.) of July 1993 would continue to apply to services provided in respect of sales of marine fish by way of any other method of sale.

Assumption of Responsibility for Markets Notification 1999 (L.N. 164)


By this notification, the Fish Marketing Organisation states that it has assumed responsibility for the regulation and conduct of the Shau Kei Wan Wholesale Marine Fish Market and Cheung Sha Wan Wholesale Marine Fish Market at the addresses to which those markets have been relocated.

University of Hong Kong Ordinance (Cap. 1053)
Statutes of the University of Hong Kong (Amendment) Statutes 1999 (L.N. 165)


These Statutes amend the Statutes of the University of Hong Kong in the Schedule to the University of Hong Kong Ordinance (Cap. 1053) to --

  1. allow the University to confer or award additional degrees and academic distinctions;

  2. change the title of "Dean of Students" to "Dean of Student Affairs";

  3. provide that the Director of Estates and the Director of Finance shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor instead of the Registrar;

  4. provide that members elected to the Court by the Grant Schools Council and the Hong Kong Subsidized Secondary Schools Council shall be members of the respective Councils;

  5. clarify the status of some categories of elected members to the Court including Legislative Council Members, so that an elected member under such categories--

    1. shall be deemed to have resigned from the Court if he ceases to be a member of the body which elected him;

    2. shall be deemed to have resigned from his membership in his original capacity if he becomes a member of the Court in another capacity; and

  6. revise the composition of the Senate to allow for official representation from the Graduate School.
