This Notice appoints 1 June 1999 as the day on which the Evidence (Amendment) Ordinance 1999 (2 of 1999) ("the Ordinance") will come into operation.

The Ordinance abolishes the rule against hearsay evidence in civil proceedings and introduces a simpler system for admission of hearsay evidence in those proceedings.
