LC Paper No. CB(1) 1692/98-99(07)

Cessation of "tenants to pay repair service" scheme
provided by the Housing Department

BACKGROUND

At the meeting on 12 July 1999, the Housing Department was requested to provide a list of items under the previous "tenant-to-pay repair service" scheme and to specify those items which require tenants to engage their own tradesman in the open market to carry out the repair work under the new arrangement. This paper provides Members with the information.

INFORMATION

2 With effect from 1 April this year, Housing Department has ceased to carry out repair services in respect of all work items formerly provided under the "Tenant-to-pay repair service" scheme. The listings of these repair items are provided in the appendix. Accordingly, tenants have to engage their own tradesman in the open market to carry out repair work under the new arrangement.
