The Legislative Council Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Smart City visited the Smart Government Innovation Lab (“Smart LAB”) at Cyberport today (20 January) to learn about the latest initiatives in facilitating the development of a smart government in Hong Kong.
Accompanied by the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor SUN Dong, Members first received a briefing on the work objectives of the Smart LAB by the Government Chief Information Officer (Acting), Mr Tony WONG Chi-kwong. Members were then given a tour on the exhibits of the Smart LAB to better understand the use of innovative technology in enhancing city management and providing better public services.
Members also took the opportunity to discuss with the Administration on ways to strengthen the collaboration between Government departments and the innovation and technology (“I&T”) sector, particularly local start-ups as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, on developing more I&T solutions that can facilitate the development of a smart government.
A total of 10 members and non-members of the Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Smart City and Panel on Information Technology and Broadcasting attended the visit.
