LegCo Members meet with members of Yuen Long and Islands District Councils (with photos)




Legislative Council (“LegCo”) Members met with Yuen Long District Council (“DC”) and Islands DC members at the LegCo Complex today (28 February). They held in-depth discussions and exchanged views on issues related to community development and people’s concern.

 

During the meeting with Yuen Long DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on various issues, including expediting the recreational and sports facility projects in the district; studying the expansion plan of Tin Shui Wai Hospital to address the increasing demand for public healthcare services arising from the anticipated population surge and the development of the Northern Metropolis; as well as seizing development opportunities in the Northern Metropolis to replan the public sewerage system and rural drainage projects in the new development areas to improve environmental hygiene.

 

The meeting was convened by Hon Michael TIEN Puk-sun. A total of 23 Members attended the meeting including Prof Hon Priscilla LEUNG Mei-fun, Hon Steven HO Chun-yin, Hon MA Fung-kwok, Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, Dr Hon Junius HO Kwan-yiu, Hon Holden CHOW Ho-ding, Hon LUK Chung-hung, Hon LAU Kwok-fan, Hon Kenneth LAU Ip-keung,  Hon Doreen KONG Yuk-foon, Hon Nixie LAM Lam, Hon LAM San-keung, Hon Kenneth LEUNG Yuk-wai, Hon CHAN Yuet-ming, Hon CHAN Pui-leung, Ir Hon Gary ZHANG Xinyu, Hon Benson LUK Hon-man, Hon LAI Tung-kwok, Prof Hon LAU Chi-pang, Dr Hon NGAN Man-yu, Hon YIM Kong and Prof Hon CHAN Wing-kwong.

 

As for the meeting with Islands DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on various issues, including the public facilities, public services, and ancillary transport facilities of the Tung Chung New Town Extension; the traffic congestion in the vicinity of Tung Chung Town centre and suggestions for improvements; as well as implementing initiatives from the Policy Address to develop tourist hotspots in the Islands districts to fully realize its tourism potential.

    

The meeting was convened by Hon Mrs Regina IP LAU Suk-yee. A total of 19 Members attended the meeting including, Prof Hon Priscilla LEUNG Mei-fun, Dr Hon CHAN Han-pan, Hon KWOK Wai-keung, Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, Hon CHAN Chun-ying, Hon Kenneth LAU Ip-keung, Hon Tony TSE Wai-chuen, Hon Doreen KONG Yuk-foon, Hon Kenneth LEUNG Yuk-wai, Hon CHAN Yuet-ming, Hon Judy CHAN Kapui, Ir Hon CHAN Siu-hung, Hon Joephy CHAN Wing-yan, Hon CHAN Hok-fung, Hon Benson LUK Hon-man, Hon Edmund WONG Chun-sek, Hon Kenneth FOK Kai-kong and Dr Hon SO Cheung-wing.
