Legislative Council delegation's
duty visit to Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore
from 12 to 18 May 2024
The Legislative Council delegation conducted a duty visit to three ASEAN member states, namely Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, from 12 to 18 May 2024. The objectives of the visit were to gain first-hand knowledge about the latest developments of these countries in various areas including economy, trade, tourism, innovation and technology, nurturing of emerging industries and education. The delegation also aimed to tell the country's and Hong Kong's good stories, and deepen cooperation and connections with the ASEAN countries, with a view to seeking opportunities for Hong Kong's development while contributing to the high quality development of our country.
Apart from meeting with the Speakers and Members of local Parliaments, the Legislative Council delegation also took the opportunity to exchange views with relevant government departments and organizations, representatives of the ASEAN community, the Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, Chinese Ambassadors to Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, and local Hong Kong businessmen to enhance collaboration and connections.
