Guided educational tours, as part of the component of the School Visit Programme, are organized to enhance the understanding of the work of the Legislature among students. A number of School Visit Programmes are designed for schools so as to help students make the most of their visits.

Eligible Applicant


Local schools, including:
  • kindergartens;
  • aided/direct subsidy scheme/private primary, secondary and special schools; and
  • higher education institutions, registered at the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government, can make booking of the guided educational tours.

School Visit Programme

  • Objective To address the learning needs of students of different academic levels, a number of School Visit Programmes are designed for teachers to choose from.
  • Programme It comprises a guided tour of the LegCo Complex, followed by an educational activity which is tailored to meet the learning needs of students.
  • Duration It lasts for about 90 minutes. To allow flexibility and time to explore other facilities in the Complex, please plan to spend two full hours in the Complex.

For kindergarten visiting groups: At least 15, but no more than 50*, inclusive of students, teachers and accompanying staff/parents.

* To abide by fire regulations, the capacity of the Children's Corner is limited at 30 persons. Students will be divided into two groups to participate in the visit programme if the number of students, teachers and accompanying staff/parents exceeds 30. Programme content will be adjusted accordingly.

For primary school, secondary school and higher education visiting institution groups: including students, teachers, and other accompanying adults, each school group must have at least 15 but no more than 45 participants.

Language

A choice of Cantonese, English or Putonghua is available to fit teacher’s medium of instruction. Story-telling session and interactive games at the Children's Corner are conducted in Cantonese.

Year-round booking

  • Each school is entitled to book up to five tours per school year (1 September each year to 31 August in the next year), on a first come, first served basis.

* For higher education institution, each branch school, academic faculty/department, college, academic programme, administrative department responsible for student affairs, or students’ club/society is entitled to book one tour every school year.
  • Bookings for the 2019-2020 school year (1 September 2019 to 17 July 2020) may be made through the Online Booking System from 12 noon, 4 July 2019.
  • Bookings for summer visit programmes (14 July to 31 August 2019) will be counted towards the school's tour entitlement for the 2018-2019 school year.
  • Schools are encouraged to organize visit activities during summer recess. If additional tour quota is needed, please contact the Tour Office at 3919 3441.

Booking procedures


Register an online booking account
  1. Schools are required to register for an online booking account on the Online Booking System to book sessions of the visit programme arranged for schools.
  2. Each eligible school* can apply for one online booking account.
  3. To register for an online booking account, the applicant is required to fill out an online registration form and submit supporting documents to the Visitor Services Team of the LegCo Secretariat for verification.
  4. Once the procedures are completed, the applicant will receive a confirmation email with account login ID and password. The applicant is then ready to book a visit session online.

    * For higher education institutions, each branch school, academic faculty/department, college, academic programme, administrative department responsible for student affairs, or students’ club/society is entitled to register for one online booking account.
Book a tour
  1. Log on to the Online Booking System.
  2. Check the availability of the desired visit session.
  3. Select a visit session.
  4. Fill out and submit the online booking form.
  5. Log out from the Online Booking System, or continue to book another visit session by repeating steps 2 to 4, until all booking is done.
  6. The booking request will be processed by the Visitor Services Team of the LegCo Secretariat. A confirmation email will be sent to the applicant within 7 working days upon receipt of the request. Visit sessions are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
  7. On the day of visit, please arrive at the LegCo Complex 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the visit programme to go through security screening. All participants are requested to pass through a metal detector archway and to have their belongings screened by X-ray machines. The group co-ordinator is requested to produce his/her proof of identity for inspection and registration.

Cancellation of a booked session

  • Please log on to the Online Booking System to make the cancellation. If the visit programme is to be conducted in the coming 7 days, please notify the Visitor Services Team at 3919 3441 or by email to visit@legco.gov.hk.
  • The Secretariat reserves the right to cancel or make any adjustments to any scheduled visit programme if necessary. Schools will be informed of the cancellation or adjustments in advance.
