2007-2008 		Issue No. 29 (4 July 2008)


At its meeting on 2 and 3 July 2008, the Legislative Council passed the following four bills:

(1)Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008, with amendments moved by the Secretary for Justice at Committee Stage.

(2)Fixed Penalty (Smoking Offences) Bill, with amendments moved by the Secretary for Food and Health at Committee Stage.

(3)West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Bill, with amendments moved by the Secretary for Home Affairs at Committee Stage.

(4)Supplementary Appropriation (2007-2008) Bill.


At the same meeting, the Council passed the following three resolutions:

(1)Resolution moved by the Secretary for Food and Health relating to the Pharmacy and Poisons (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulation 2008 and the Poisons List (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulation 2008.

(2)Resolution moved by the Secretary for the Environment relating to the Sewage Services (Trade Effluent Surcharge) (Amendment) Regulation 2008.

(3)Resolution moved by Hon Miriam LAU Kin-yee relating to the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.


The following three motions not intended to have legislative effect were also passed by the Council:

(1)Motion on "Report of the Subcommittee to Study Issues Relating to the Provision of Boarding Places, Senior Secondary Education and Employment Opportunities for Children with Special Educational Needs", moved by Dr Hon Fernando CHEUNG Chiu-hung.

(2)Motion on "Proactively promoting waste recovery and recycling", moved by Hon Vincent FANG Kang as amended by Hon CHOY So-yuk and Hon Audrey EU Yuet-mee.

(3)"Motion for Adjournment", moved by Hon Tommy CHEUNG Yu-yan.
