At its meeting on 5 November 2008, the Legislative Council passed the following two resolutions: (1) Resolution moved by the Secretary for Food and Health relating to the Food Business (Amendment) Regulation 2008. (2) Resolution moved by Hon Mrs Regina IP LAU Suk-yee relating to the extension of the period for amending the Employees Retraining Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 3) Notice 2008. At the same meeting, the Council passed the following two motions not intended to have legislative effect: (1) Motion on "Old age allowance and universal retirement protection system", moved by Hon Fred LI Wah-ming as amended by Hon Tommy CHEUNG Yu-yan, Hon WONG Sing-chi and Hon TAM Yiu-chung. (2) Motion on "Preventing the lower and middle classes from being trapped in hardship amid the financial tsunami", moved by Hon Albert HO Chun-yan as amended by Hon Tommy CHEUNG Yu-yan and Hon CHAN Kam-lam.
