LegCo Members meet with Heung Yee Kuk Councillors (with photos)
Members of the Legislative Council ("LegCo") held a meeting with Heung Yee Kuk Councillors today (12 May) at the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on various topics, including planning and development of land in the New Territories, development of villages in the New Territories as well as new development areas and new town extension.
At the meeting, LegCo Members and Heung Yee Kuk Councillors discussed a number of issues related to planning and development of land in the New Territories, such as the establishment of a preparatory committee for setting up a conservation fund; the conservation of the private land with high ecological significance at Sha Lo Tung through a non-in-situ land exchange; amendments to the existing law on adverse possession of lands; and the implementation of the Land Titles Ordinance.
On development of villages in the New Territories, they discussed the formulation of a comprehensive rural policy; the plan for improving remote public piers; the review of the provision of basic utilities and amenities for villagers; the development of home-stay lodgings in villages; and strategic landfill and incinerator plans.
On new development areas and new town extension, they also exchanged views on a number of development plans in the New Territories, including Lantau development plan; Kwu Tung North and Fanling North New Development Areas; Hung Shui Kiu New Development Area; and the development of Yuen Long South.
