LegCo Members meet with members of Yau Tsim Mong and Kwai Tsing District Councils (with photos)
Members of the Legislative Council ("LegCo") held separate meetings today (23 June) with members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council ("DC") and the Kwai Tsing DC respectively at the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting with the Yau Tsim Mong DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on a number of issues: management of the Mong Kok Pedestrian Precinct; problems arising from unauthorized sub-division of flat units in buildings and countermeasures against these problems; impact of the Fire Safety (Buildings) Ordinance on owners of old buildings in Yau Tsim Mong District; and Government's refusal to consult stakeholders, including Owners' Corporations and residents of the buildings concerned on licensing of guesthouses. The meeting was convened by Hon YIU Si-wing and attended by Hon Tommy CHEUNG Yu-yan, Hon WONG Ting-kwong, Hon Starry LEE Wai-king, Dr Hon Priscilla LEUNG Mei-fun, Hon Paul TSE Wai-chun, Hon Christopher CHEUNG Wah-fung, Dr Hon Helena WONG Pik-wan, Hon POON Siu-ping, Dr Hon CHIANG Lai-wan, Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, Hon CHAN Chun-ying, Hon Jeremy TAM Man-ho and Dr Hon LAU Siu-lai.
As for the meeting with the Kwai Tsing DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: improving public transport services and related issues; proposals to retrofit lifts and pedestrian crossing facilities in Kwai Tsing District; review of Well-off Tenants Policies; early rehabilitation and opening of Kwai Chung Park; and reserving sites for the redevelopment of Princess Margaret Hospital. The meeting was convened by Prof Hon Joseph LEE Kok-long and attended by Hon Starry LEE Wai-king, Hon Michael TIEN Puk-sun, Hon Steven HO Chun-yin, Hon Frankie YICK Chi-ming, Hon CHAN Han-pan, Hon LEUNG Che-cheung, Hon Alice MAK Mei-kuen, Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, Hon Andrew WAN Siu-kin, Hon CHU Hoi-dick, Hon Holden CHOW Ho-ding, Hon LAU Kwok-fan and Hon KWONG Chun-yu.
