The Legislative Council Panel on Welfare Services conducted a visit to On Tai Estate and On Tat Estate in Kwun Tong today (8 May) to understand the social welfare services to residents of the new public rental housing ("PRH") estates.

On Tai Estate and On Tat Estate are new PRH estates in Kowloon East providing a total of about 18 000 PRH units.  Accompanied by representatives of the Housing Department, Members first observed the procedures and situation when residents moved into On Tai Estate.  Members then visited two social welfare service units to learn more about their assistance offered to residents of On Tai Estate and On Tat Estate in their removal and adaptation to the new community, such as defect inspection and youth service.

During the visit, Members also took the opportunity to exchange views with staff of the service units and PRH residents, so as to understand the difficulties encountered by the staff in providing social welfare services and the problems faced by the PRH residents in the new living environment.
