Meeting to elect the Chairman and Deputy Chairman

In accordance with the Finance Committee Procedure, Mr Allen LEE, the most senior Member of the Committee, convened the meeting.

2. Members agreed that the meeting should be held in public.

3. Members also agreed that the first meetings of the Establishment Subcommittee and Public Works Subcommittee (to be held on 23 October 1995) to elect the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the subcommittee should also be held in public.

Election of Chairman

4. Mr Allen LEE invited nominations for the Chairman. Mr YEUNG Sum was nominated by Mr James TIEN and seconded by Mr Ronald ARCULLI and Mr LEE Cheuk-yan. Mr YEUNG Sum accepted the nomination.

5. There being no other nomination, Mr YEUNG Sum was declared elected as Chairman of the Finance Committee for the 1995-96 session.

Election of Deputy Chairman

6. Mr YEUNG Sum took the chair and called for nominations for the Deputy Chairman. Mrs Elizabeth WONG was nominated by Mr CHEUNG Man-kwong, and seconded by Mrs Selina CHOW and Mr Eric LI. Mrs Elizabeth WONG accepted the nomination.

7. There being no other nomination, Mrs Elizabeth WONG was declared elected as Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee for the 1995-96 session.

Date of Next Meeting

8. The Chairman advised Members that the next meeting of the Committee would be held on Friday, 27 October at 2:30 p.m.

9. The meeting ended at 2:15 p.m.
