I. Election of Chairman (Appendix I to LegCo Paper No. CB(1)2131/95-96) Members were invited to note that in accordance with Standing Order 60E(6), those who were Chairmen/Deputy Chairmen of the government advisory bodies relevant to the Environmental Affairs Panel would not be eligible to stand for election. 2 Miss Christine LOH Kung-wai was elected Chairman of the Panel. II. Terms of reference (Appendix II to LegCo Paper No. CB(1)2131/95-96) 3 Members agreed to maintain the current terms of reference. III. Schedule of meetings for the 1996-97 session 4 Members agreed that regular meetings of the Panel would be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:45 a.m. For the November meeting, it would be held on Thursday, 7 November 1996. IV. Items for discussion at the next meeting (Appendix III to LegCo Paper No. CB(1)2131/95-96) 5 Members agreed to hold a meeting on 17 October 1996 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to discuss the review of sewage charging scheme including Sewage Charge and Trade Effluent Surcharge. 6 Members agreed to discuss the following items at the Panel's November and December meetings - Meeting on 7 November 1996 (a) Policy/legislation on erection of overhead power lines passing through populated areas (members of the LegCo Panels on Health Services and on Economic Services would be invited to attend); (b) Introduction of legislation to curb clam-digging activities within Hong Kong waters; and (c) Staging of concerts at the Hong Kong Stadium; Meeting on 3 December 1996 (d) Demographic projections. 7 The meeting ended at 12:50 p.m. LegCo Secretariat 14 October 1996
