SEX DISCRIMINATION (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1997

An Ordinance to amend the Sex Discrimination Ordinance.

Enacted by the Provisional Legislative Council.

1. Short title

This Ordinance may be cited as the Sex Discrimination (Amendment) Ordinance 1997.

2. Discrimination against applicants and employees

Section 11(4) of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 480) is amended by repealing "the commencement of this section in so far as any such provision continues for that woman on and after that commencement" and substituting "15 October 1997 in so far as any such provision continues for that woman on and after that date".

3. Partnerships

Section 15(4) is amended by repealing "the commencement of this section in so far as any such provision continues for that woman on and after that commencement" and substituting "15 October 1997 in so far as any such provision continues for that woman on and after that date".

4. Trade unions, etc.

Section 16(4) is amended by repealing "the commencement of this section in so far as any such provision continues for that member on and after that commencement" and substituting "15 October 1997 in so far as any such provision continues for that member on and after that date". 5. in sections 11(4), 15(4) and 16(4) of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance as in force before
the commencement of this Ordinance

It is hereby declared that the reference to "the commencement of this section" in sections 11(4), 15(4) and 16(4) of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 480) as in force immediately before the commencement of this Ordinance meant, and always meant, for all purposes, the commencement of sections 2, 3 and 4 respectively of the Sex and Disability Discrimination (Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance 1997 (71 of 1997).
