Water Pollution Control Ordinance (Cap. 358)
Water Pollution Control (Sewerage) (Amendment) Regulation 1998 (L.N. 281)


This Regulation amends the Water Pollution Control (Sewerage) Regulation (Cap. 358 sub. leg.) ("the Principal Regulation") by (a) correcting a typographical error in Column 3 of Item 9 in Part I of Schedule 1 and (b) by amending Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulation, so that the relevant part of section 4 of the Roads (Works, Use and Compensation) Ordinance (Cap. 370) shall apply in respect of sewerage works carried out under the Principal Regulation. The Director of Environmental Protection is now empowered under the Principal Regulation as amended to carry out sewerage works in respect of which he needs only :-

  1. to close a road which does not serve any useful or lawful purpose;

  2. to close a road for a period not exceeding 14 days in any period of 3 months; or

  3. to close part of the width of a road without interfering unreasonably with the traffic and for such period as reasonably necessary,

without going through the normal procedure of gezetting the works and dealing with objections.

Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 1)
Specification of Public Office (L.N. 282)


This Notice specifies the Director of Environmental Protection to be a public office for the purposes of the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (Cap. 499) and the Environmental Impact Assessment (Appeal Board) Regulation (L.N. 455 of 1997) so that he can delegate the powers conferred and duties imposed upon him under the Ordinance and the Regulation to appropriate officers in the Environmental Protection Department.

Pilotage Ordinance (Cap. 84)
Pilotage (Amendment) Order 1998 (L.N. 283)


This Order updates the required experience of applicants for registration as a licensed pilot under the Pilotage Order (Cap. 84 sub. leg.) ("the Principal Order"). The amendments to the Principal Order require an apprentice pilot to gain sufficient experience in Ma Wan Channel and revise the training requirements in berthing, unberthing, docking and undocking various wharves, berths and docks.

This Order will come into operation on 1 September 1998.
