Visit to Japan
Purpose
This paper seeks the House Committee's endorsement of the recommendation of the Parliamentary Liaison Subcommittee that the eleven Members in the
Appendix should form the Legislative Council delegation to visit Japan.
Visit to Japan
2. At the House Committee meeting on 18 December 1998, members agreed that a delegation comprising ten Members be formed to visit Japan from 23 to 27 February 1999. It was also agreed that all interested LegCo Members should express their interest on or before 5:00 pm on Monday 21 December 1998.
3. Eleven Members have indicated interest in joining the delegation. As this number exceeds the proposed size of the delegation by one Member only and the Members concerned have agreed to meet any excess expenditure on a pro-rata basis, the Subcommittee recommends that all eleven Members should form the delegation.
Recommendation
4. Members are invited to endorse the delegation list in the Appendix.
