Dear Ms LEUNG,

In preparation for the meeting of the LegCo Panel on Housing to be held on 1 February 1999, I would like to raise the following questions. Please refer them to the Housing Bureau and request an early reply in writing.

Supervision cost in the management fees of Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) estates

For HOS estates with no Owners' Corporations, the Housing Department (HD) will monitor the performance of the private management companies which provide management services to these estates. If residents concerned do not want HD to do so, is there any mechanism through which they can make such a decision? If so, what is the mechanism? If not, will HD act in compliance with the residents' aspirations if residents of a particular HOS estate unanimously agree to request HD to cease supervision?
