2.3 Number of Broadcast Hours

The weekly number3 of television broadcast hours of programmes provided by the licensees to the viewers in Hong Kong in August 2005 was 43,647 (41.4% increase over 2004). The four channels of ATV and TVB provided a total of 639 hours per week while the 207 channels of domestic pay television programme service licensees, 34,776 hours. The 49 channels of non-domestic television programme service licensees receivable in Hong Kong provided a total of 8,232 hours per week. The weekly number of broadcast hours for sound broadcasting (including RTHK) was 2,184 (same as 2004). The respective weekly hours of different categories of licensees as at August 2005 are shown in Figure 5.
