Tour Route

Tour participants will visit the conference facilities and education facilities in the Legislative Council ("LegCo") Complex. The tour route may be adjusted according to the meetings and activities held in the Complex. In general, the tour covers the following facilities:

Special arrangements

Rules for Participation in Guided Tours

In order to ensure a pleasant touring experience, all participants of guided tours are required to observe the following rules:
  1. Participants should wear the tour badges prominently during their stay in the LegCo Complex.
  2. Participants should take good care of the audio receivers during the tour and return them after the tour.
  3. No eating or drinking is allowed during the tour.
  4. Participants should not damage the exhibits in the LegCo Complex. Any damage to the exhibits should be reported immediately to the staff conducting the tour. Participants may be held responsible for any damage made.
  5. Participants should not use flash for photography. Prior approval should be sought from the LegCo Secretariat for filming or recording during the tour.
  6. Mobile phones, pagers and other beeping/ringing devices should be turned to silent mode during the tour.
  7. Loudspeakers should not be used inside the LegCo Complex.
  8. Large bags, umbrellas, raincoats and any items not needed for the tour should be kept in the lockers provided at the Main Lobby or in such other places as required by the staff conducting the tour.
  9. Participants are responsible for their personal belongings during the tour. The LegCo Secretariat does not take any responsibility for loss of personal belongings.
  10. Participants should stay with the group and not wander around.
  11. Leaders of group visitors should maintain the order of their group.
  12. Late comers will be arranged to join the next available tour.
  13. A visit may be made to the Souvenir Shop and/or the Cafeteria after the tour. To avoid overcrowding in the Main Lobby, the time that visitors can stay behind in the Main Lobby is printed on their tour badges.
  14. Warnings will be given to participants contravening these Rules or causing nuisances or appearing likely to behave in a disorderly manner during the tour.
  15. Participants ignoring the warnings and refusing to obey any directions given to him/her by the staff conducting the tour are required to leave the tour.
  16. The above Rules are subject to review and may be changed as and when required.

Guided tours are organized to enhance the understanding of the work of the Legislature among students. A number of activities are designed for schools so as to help students make the most of their visits.
The Secretariat has rolled out Online Educational Activity. Schools may choose to participate online or in person at the Legislative Council Complex. For details, please go to Visit and educational activities.

To enhance the public’s understanding of the work of the Legislature and to provide an opportunity for them to visit the facilities in the Legislative Council ("LegCo") Complex, charitable organizations are welcome to organize their members to join the guided tours of the LegCo Complex.

Eligible applicant

  • Organizations which are exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance are eligible to book a tour for charitable organizations.
  • Other non-profit-making organizations which are not tax-exempt can also apply for a guided tour of the LegCo Complex. Please refer to Guided Tour for Groups.

Number of participants

  • The group must have at least 15 persons but no more than 45 persons, including accompanying staff or caretakers.
  • For group comprises of elderly, the staff in charge of the group should ensure that every 10 elderly participants are being taken care of by at least one staff member of their own throughout the tour.

Language

A choice of Cantonese, English or Putonghua is available.

Visit programmes for summer recess in 2019

  • For student and youngster groups organized to visit the LegCo Complex from 14 July to 31 August 2019, the LegCo Secretariat may arrange an educational activity for them in addition to the regular guided tour of the LegCo Complex to enhance their understanding of the work of LegCo.
  • The visit programme with educational activity for student and youngster visiting groups comprises a 45-minute guided tour of the LegCo Complex and a 45-minute role-play on the work of LegCo. To allow flexibility and sufficient time to explore other facilities in the Complex, visiting groups are advised to spend two full hours in the Complex.

Schedule of tours

Booking arrangement

  • Each eligible charitable organization can book two tours per year. If more than two tours are required, charitable organization may book the guided tours for groups.
  • A charitable organization can book a tour to be conducted from the next 7 to 90 days.
    -    Visit programmes from September to July next year will be announced in mid-June and made available for booking from early July every year. Bookings for visit programmes from September 2019 onwards will be accepted from 12 noon, 4 July 2019.
    -    Visit programmes for summer will be announced and made available for booking in mid-May every year.

Booking procedures

Register an online booking account
  1. Charitable organizations are required to register for an online booking account on the Online Booking System in order to book sessions of the visit programme arranged for charitable organizations.
  2. To register for an online booking account, the applicant is required to fill out an online registration form and submit upporting documents, such as tax exemption letter issued by the Inland Revenue Department, to the Visitor Services Team of the LegCo Secretariat for verification.
  3. Once the procedures are completed, the applicant will receive a confirmation email with account login ID and password. The applicant is then ready to book a visit session online.
Book a visit session
  1. Log on to the Online Booking System.
  2. View the availability of the desired visit session.
  3. Select a visit session.
  4. Fill out and submit the online booking form.
  5. Logout from the Online Booking System.
  6. The booking request will be processed by the Visitor Services Team of the LegCo Secretariat. A confirmation email will be sent to the applicant within 7 working days upon receipt of the request. Visit sessions are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
  7. On the day of visit, please arrive at the LegCo Complex 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the visit programme to go through security screening. All participants are requested to pass through a metal detector archway and to have their belongings screened by X-ray machines. The group co-ordinator is requested to produce his/her proof of identity for inspection and registration.

Cancellation of a booked session

  1. Please log on to the Online Booking System to make the cancellation. If the visit programme is to be conducted in the coming 7 working days, please notify the Visitor Services Team at 3919 3441 or by email to visit@legco.gov.hk.
  2. The Secretariat reserves the right to cancel or make any adjustments to any scheduled visit programme if necessary. The applicant will be informed of the cancellation or adjustments in advance.

To speed up the booking process, the applicant can send supplementary supporting document such as the certificate of registration of a society or business registration certificate (if applicable) to the Visitor Services Team.
  6. A confirmation email will be sent to the applicant within 7 working days upon receipt of the application. Visit sessions will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
  7. On the day of visit, please arrive at the LegCo Complex 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the tour. All tour participants are requested to pass through a metal detector archway, to have their belongings screened by X-ray machines and to produce proof of identity for inspection and registration.

  • Most guided tours for individuals are conducted in Cantonese.

  • For an individual making an advance booking, up to six tour tickets of one tour per day can be booked.
  • Individuals can book tour tickets of guided tours to be conducted from the next 7 to 90 days.
    -    Visit programmes from September to July next year will be announced in mid-June and made available for booking from early July every year. Bookings for visit programmes from September 2019 onwards will be accepted from 12 noon, 4 July 2019.

  2. Check the availability of the desired tour session and the number of tour tickets available for booking of the desired tour session.
  3. Select the tour session.
  4. Fill out and submit the booking form.

  6. On the day of visit, please arrive at the Legislative Council Complex 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the tour. All tour participants are requested to pass through a metal detector archway, to have their belongings screened by X-ray machines and to produce proof of identity for inspection and registration.
Via the Centralized Booking Hotline
  1. Call the Centralized Booking Hotline at 3919 3399.
  2. Booking applicant will be asked for the tour session and number of tickets requested to check for the availability.
  3. If the tour and tickets requested are available, the name and contact number of the booking applicant will be asked for record purpose.
  4. On the day of visit, please arrive at the Legislative Council Complex 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the tour. All tour participants are requested to pass through a metal detector archway, to have their belongings screened by X-ray machines and to produce proof of identity for inspection and registration.
