During the reporting period, 10 talks were given to students from primary schools, secondary schools, tertiary institutes and the Hong Kong Institute of Education. The primary and secondary students were briefed on the four different kinds of television programme services in Hong Kong and the regulation, in particular, the provisions governing the domestic free television programme services and how to make informed viewing choices. The tertiary students were briefed on the regulatory issues relating to mass media focusing on the electronic media. For teachers, the emphases were placed on the role and functions of the Authority and the importance of developing children's ability of critical thinking when watching television. |
